The Wii Mommies

Hi Everyone! I Just found you guys by watching a review of one of the Wii games & the lady on the review said she was from here.. so Me, being a nosy butt, went & googled it and here I am Lol.

I am hoping someone can shed some light for me... My whole family is over weight.. well not my kids. so My husband & I lol. We both want to lose weight but of course I want to loose it more then he does lol. I have a lot of health problems so being over weight is NOT helping anything.

I want to grab a wii game to get us all up and moving.. I would LOVE a wii fit but there are none in my entire area.. kid you not lol. So I am sad that I will probably have to wait till NEXT Income tax to get one.. As it seems that is the only time we have enough money I feel alright with spending it on myself kwim?

Anyways... what game(s) would you recommend for a beginner? I was leaning towards Walk it out or Just Dance.. I also Love some of the features of the EA Active.. but I am afraid it will be too hard & I will give up...

What do you recommend?

TYIA!

The active is a harder workout, but they do have it so you can set it on an easy-medium-advanced. I personally like the second active game better(more workouts). It has some things as simple as step aerobics and has a warm up and cool down on it that really helps. I do think the best exercise one for beginners is the Wii fit. I started with that and think it has really helped me get into shape to take on more exercising. I like the Golds gym(which is a boxing one...might be something the hubby would like too). Those you can do just some short stuff or keep adding routines and workout as hard as you want really. I have the Jillian Michaels 2010 also, but think it is kind of boring.

I have heard a lot of good stuff about Just Dance, but have not tried it out.

I totally know what you mean. I had to wait until this income tax season to justify buying a Wii. And I'm having the same problem, there are no Wii fits in my area either. Some store personal told me they are making a new model so the other ones are no longer available but who knows.

I bought EAS Active and Biggest Loser. I love Active although I would recommend starting on easy intensity (I started on Medium and it hurt to sit down to pee lol). It really gets you moving and is fun. Not such a big fan of Biggest loser as it doesn't correct your moves and doesn't feel like that great of a workout.

Have fun with your new Wii!!!

Hey sounds like my family, Hubby included, Oh He wants to lose the weight but I don't that those fast food breaks and twizzlers will help, lol. My teen daughter is developing, however her hips, waist and thighs are bigger than mine! Of course she love those teen foods, ugh... I have the wii and several wii fit aids. I found a good place to get them "Game Spot" if you have then in a mall or some are in strip malls. They sell used games and product , so the price is good.

Check Ebay - that's where I got mine and I only paid $80 for the whole system (board & game). I just got it a week ago and it's super fun. I don't know about losing weight with it though- you definitely have to do something else along with the strength training or yoga. Personally, I do Leslie Sansone's walks along with some of the strength training. Anyways, you should definitely check Ebay or even Amazon. You'll definitely be able to find it.

I agree with Colleen. Active is literally a personal trainer in a box, preventing the need to go for a gym. You can find the Wii Fit Plus (which I recommend because it is exactly the Wii Fit only with benefits) if you're looking for a slower, more relaxing option for working out along with some higher impact aerobic activities.

After the bout of excitement I just had, I opted for the good old fashioned way and decided to sing "One Way or Another" and chased my kids. I think I'm hopping on my EA Active Personal Trainer tonight when my husband gets home because I have WAY too much energy to burn and that's just what I need to burn it!

Welcome! I'm new too! Between March and today I've lost 30 lbs! ...Of course, I took a three-week hiatus from Wii Fit during that time, since my first interaction with Wii Fit was borrowing my neighbor's system. My husband just bought me a new Wii Fit by trading in his Xbox 360 and games collection that he was bored of. GameStop is running a special that gives you an extra 50% trade-in value on everything you trade in to their store until tomorrow night! We lucked out in that our roommate already has a Wii she's not using, so I set it up to be the fitness center in the house. lol

As far as eBay goes, having been burned by there before, I'm going to say it's a good idea, but make sure you investigate what you're buying, and any return policies the seller has! That way, you hopefully won't be stuck with something that's advertised as "brand-new-in-box" and comes to you as "been-played-with-way-too-many-times-to-work". ^_^; Not saying don't go to eBay, they're a great resource... just be careful who you buy from. :)

Unfortunately, I don't know any of the other fitness games for the Wii, but my roommate swears she lost a few lbs by playing the Wii Sport Resort religiously... until she developed tennis elbow, I think. lol
